Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Following a major disaster, first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be able to meet the demand for these services. Factors as number of victims, communication failures, and road blockages will prevent people from accessing emergency services they have come to expect at a moment's notice through 911. People will have to rely on each other for help in order to meet their immediate life saving and life sustaining needs.

Information regarding the H1N1 Flu - (The "Swine Flu")

Oregon now has confirmed cases of H1N1 following testing by the State of Oregon Public Health Laboratory. For the latest information on H1N1 including the current count of confirmed and probable cases visit Oregon's H1N1 flu investigation.

H1N1 flu is a respiratory illness related to seasonal influenza, but not usually seen in people. None of the ill people are known to have been in contact with pigs. This suggests that transmission may have been from person to person. The Center for Disease Control and state health departments are working together to learn more about the infection, and whether other people in contact with those who were ill may have also experienced infection. For more information regarding this, please visit the Acute and Communicable Disease Prevention web page, by Oregon Department of Human Resources.
